Privacy notice
Backchat lets you scan the code on an ad (on a truck, a screen, a bus shelter or your TV), see the ad on your phone, ask questions and claim the offer. This notice says what we collect when you do that, why, who sees it and how long we keep it.
What we collect

Why we use it
- To answer your questions and hold your offer or booking.
- To give the advertiser your claim so they can honour it, and to stop the same number claiming twice.
- To send you a text confirming your claim, if texting is set up. You can reply STOP at any time.
- To count how many people responded to each ad. These counts never include your name or number.
- To run and award a prize under its official rules, if you enter one.
Marketing texts only come from the advertiser, and only if you tapped "agree" for them. Saying no never affects your offer.
Who sees it
- The advertiser whose ad you scanned sees your claim or booking (name, number, code, time).
- Service providers that run Backchat for us: hosting, the AI service that writes the assistant's answers to your messages, and the text-message provider. They process data only to provide their service.
- We don't sell your information or share it for other companies' advertising.
- If you win a prize, the public winners list shows your first name and last initial and your score.
How long we keep it
Names and numbers from claims and bookings are deleted 60 days after the claim. Counts that don't identify you are kept. Losing prize entries are deleted when the hour's winner is picked. Backups that contain this data rotate out within about a week of it being deleted.

You can ask to see or delete your details, or ask a question about this notice, by contacting hello@backchatads.com. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.
Children
Backchat isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Some offers and all prizes are for adults only; the ad says so.
Changes
If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top.
